During 2013 we met a dynamic young couple who have proven to be absolutely passionate about Japanese cuisine and an inspiration to others.

I introduced them to a Chinese restaurant tenant of ours who had indicated he was ready to retire. It soon became evident there was not going to be a deal there.

On leaving that meeting we literally strolled along the street in Noosa Junction and discussed the potential of other sites that we look after along this strip. We agreed that the vacating surf-shop at 7 Sunshine Beach Road had potential. Over the next few weeks we put together a deal that saw the Owner renovate the outside of the building and install a suitable toilet block and disabled access from the street. The Tenant’s would do the rest of the internal fitout themselves.

With the selection of finishes by the Tenant, it became evident this was going to be something special. The young couple demonstrated they were not afraid of hard work and possessed unquestionable style.

Two months later Sushi-yahman opened for trade and was a hit from the start and has been ever since.

It is a venue that has great appeal to a broad cross-section of the population. Kids are fascinated by the Sushi Train and can be contained in the adjoining booths. There is the opportunity to dine around a table whilst kneeling, or alternatively banquet around the huge tree slab bench. Then there are 2 outdoor options to choose from.

The food is wonderful and seems equally as popular in the evenings as it is during the day, which is another key to their success.

The Lessor’s Works came in fairly close to budget at just over $200k.
